Management Accountant
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Management Accountant to join our finance team. This role offers a diverse range of responsibilities, from monthly financial reporting to supporting key business functions. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong analytical skills, and will work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure financial integrity and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including bank reconciliations, accruals, prepayment journals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist the Financial Controller in the preparation of annual accounts and liaise with auditors during the statutory audit process.
- Support stakeholders in understanding their P&L and other financial data to drive informed decision-making.
- Respond to day-to-day financial queries from various departments.
- Collaborate with the business development team to provide financial insights for tender submissions, system improvements, and client liaison.
- Participate in the annual budget preparation process and provide cost analysis support.
- Monitor and analyse overall cost control, identifying opportunities for financial efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and support the Assistant Management Accountant to ensure their development and performance.
- Ensure the accuracy and security of financial data in line with company policies and procedures.
- Prepare and present monthly management information reports to senior stakeholders, highlighting key trends and insights.
- Produce ad hoc financial reports as requested by the business to support decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for profit improvement within client accounts and provide actionable recommendations.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in management accounting, with a strong understanding of financial reporting and analysis.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels and explain complex financial data in a clear and accessible way.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- A positive, proactive approach with the ability to lead and develop junior team members.
