Learning Support Assistant / Unqualified PE Teacher at St Bernadette's Catholic Primary School.Purpose of Post:
To provide support to enable children to learn to be fit and healthy.Duties & Responsibilities:
To work under the direct instruction of teaching/senior staff/PE team /Inclusion Manager/Headteacher. Working usually within the classroom with the teacher, to support access to learning for all children and provide general support to the teacher in the management of children and the classroom.
To work within a specified phase in a primary setting. Work alongside the PE Leader supporting learners across KS1 and KS2 in their PE Lessons. You will assist in managing challenging behaviour and encouraging a positive attitude to learning.For the unqualified teaching role you will be tasked with administrative duties such as taking the class register, preparing, planning and setting up activities for the pupils.
Providing assessment and feedback to the class teacher on their development and behavioural progress.Support for pupilsSupervise and support children ensuring their safety and access to learning; Supporting/supervising children with learning tasks whether in a small group or on a one-2-one basis; Establish good relationship with children, being aware of, and responding appropriately to, individual needs;Promote the inclusion of all children; Encourage children to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher; Introduce new learning skills in PE for use individually and in team games; Encourage children to act independently as appropriate; Encourage children to work hard and to stay as fit and healthy as possible; Support children in using ICT as directed; Prepare and maintain equipment/resources as directed by the teacher and assist children in their use; Support language acquisition and the development of speaking and listening skills; Support children to understand instructions; Support children in respect of national curriculum at key stages 1 and 2 and/or EYFS as directed by the teacher;Where appropriate, attend to the children’s’ personal needs, and implement any related personal programmes.
