We are looking for a committed Psychologist to join our large and welcoming team to work into the cleft, lip and palate service at RMCH, and the diabetes team at Tameside General Hospital. This post will be supervised and managed by Consultant Clinical Psychologists at RMCH.

We are committed to continuing professional development and further training is supported and encouraged in association with the appraisal process. The Royal Manchester Children's Hospital is a regional Paediatric hospital and is in fact the largest children's hospital in Europe.

Paediatric Psychosocial services are well regarded in the hospital and close relationships exist with our colleagues in paediatric (and indeed adult) medical specialties. We are keen to promote innovative practice, as well as traditional individual psychological assessment and intervention.

This is a Band 7 to 8a development opportunity using Annex 21 process.

This is open to Band 8a and Band 7 applicants.

We will be accepting applications from Band 7 applicants with view to develop into a Band 8a role

Duration

Salary Payable

(i) up to 12 months prior to completion of training:

75% of the top of the band

(ii) more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training:

70% of the top of the band

(iii) more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training:

65% of the top of the band

(iv) more than three years from completion of training:

60% of the top of the band
  • Providing evidence-based psychological assessment and interventions
  • Contributing to MDT care planning and review
  • Providing consultation, training and support to the wider team
  • Developing the clinical psychology service in conjunction with senior colleagues
  • Supervision of more junior colleagues, trainee and assistant psychologists or other psychological practitioners
  • Contributing to audit and research
To be considered for this role, you'll need:
  • An accredited post-graduate qualification in Clinical Psychology
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Post-qualification experience of working within the fields of paediatric, adolescent or adult health psycholog

We work with hospital inpatients, groups, and with face-to-face as well as online/virtual modalities.
