Property Maintenance Operative - We are looking for an experienced Property Maintenance Operative to join our team in Stowmarket, Suffolk, where you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and upkeep of Stowmarket's Town Council properties.

About the role

As the Property Maintenance Operative, you will report to the Operations & Estates Manager and play a critical role in undertaking the maintenance, repairs, and caretaking of Stowmarket Town Council properties. Your proactive attitude and commitment to quality will ensure our facilities remain welcoming and safe for all.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertake scheduled maintenance tasks and respond to urgent repair needs across Town Council properties.
  • Plan and oversee maintenance schedules in collaboration with the Operations & Estates Manager.
  • Ensure building compliance and safety through regular checks and emergency response.
  • Support the Community Centre's operations, ensuring it remains a safe and welcoming space.
  • Perform general groundskeeping and equipment maintenance tasks.
  • Uphold health and safety procedures, maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Contribute to the success of the Operations Team through additional duties as needed, including logistics for Town Council meetings and community events.
As the successful Property Maintenance Operative, you will have proven experience in property maintenance. Your strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities make you a key player in any team. You are capable of working independently while maintaining excellent communication with colleagues and the public.

With a proactive attitude and commitment to high standards, you lead by example and inspire a collaborative culture. Your physical fitness allows you to perform manual tasks efficiently, and you are flexible with working hours to meet the needs of our properties, facilities and local community.
