An exciting opportunity has become available for a Payroll Officer to join our Payroll Department.
This person would need to be adaptable to constant changes and have the ability to work on their own initiative. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to communicate with managers and individual members of staff at all levels both verbally and in writing.The post will be varied and requires problem solving skills together with numeracy skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.
Main duties of the job- Responsible for accurately preparing, and for thoroughly checking, within given deadlines, an allocated section of work covering weekly/ monthly payrolls, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and procedures, Terms and Conditions of service, Pension Scheme regulations, and Government Legislation.
- Responsible, for all administration and maintenance work, for that allocation.
- Supervises Payroll Officers and provides a first destination for advice and guidance when necessary.
- Processes end to end Weekly Payroll.
- Provides support to, and covers for, the Assistant Payroll Manager as required.

Person specification
Work Experience
Essential criteria- Previous Payroll experience, to include PAYE, SSP and SMP
- Previous NHS Payroll experience
- Previous experience training colleagues
Qualifications
Essential criteria- A good basic academic record to include Maths and English grades C or above (9-4 or equivalent)
- NVQ Level 3 or the equivalent experience
- AAT Level 3 in payroll or the equivalent
Skills
Essential criteria- Computing / keyboard skills to include Excel and Word
- Good customer service skills
- Ability to prioritise and work in an organised and accurate manner within deadlines
