Project Manager
Summary
We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to join us to help lead a project to transform access to our collections information.
We care for an internationally important collection and are investing in replacing the collections management system (CMS) we use to manage information and make it accessible to our staff, volunteers and audiences to explore, enjoy and use.
This is a fixed term contract due to end when the previous employee returns from maternity leave. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be beyond 30th November 2025.
Salary: £26,699.40 (£44,499 full-time equivalent).
What it's like to work here
We look after one of the world’s largest art and heritage collections, with over 1 million items in our ownership, as well as a number of items on loan. Our historic collections are remarkably rich and varied, ranging from internationally significant treasures to fascinating personal effects and ephemera.They include everything from clocks to carriages, libraries to linen, ceramics to carpets, paintings to plastics, textiles to toys, sculpture to shell collections.
The information we hold about the collections allows us to effectively protect them, care for them, tell their stories and bring our places to life for audiences now and in the future.
Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week.This will be discussed in more detail at interview.
What you'll be doing
The Collections Information Access project has several workstreams. The most significant and complex of these is replacing our Collections Management System, but alongside this are wider business benefits including implementing simpler and more efficient ways of working, developing new cataloguing and data standards, and a systematic data improvement programme.You’ll drive the project through implementation, ensuring the scope is met and the project delivers the required benefits. Working with the IT project manager and product owner you'll progress through delivery to a successful go-live , keeping us on time, to cost and managing risk.
You’ll spearhead communications ensuring colleagues and stakeholders are clear on the projects objectives, their roles and responsibilities and the impact whilst creating a collaborative and productive culture.
Who we're looking for
We’d love to hear from you if you're:
- able to demonstrate experience of successfully delivering complex end to end project/programme management, including defining resources, leading procurement securing project teams and matrix management across multiple projects/programmes
- a professional with technical knowledge and skills in project management demonstrated by a recognised project (AMP PMQ/Prince) or programme management (MSP) qualification
- able to evidence ongoing CPD in your career to date
- a flexible thinker and problem-solver, skilled at negotiating and building productive networks, and confident in using your expertise to influence decisions with senior leaders
- a skilled communicator, with experience of managing complex and challenging situations with competing interests and a diverse range of people
- a leader for inclusion, who finds ways to create an inclusive culture
- able to demonstrate expereinece managaing up and delivering business change
