An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Histopathology Department in the role of a Histopathology Digital Pathology and automation lead. The department will be moving to a new facility and undergoing transformational changes.
The new Discovery Drive laboratory will introduce new ways of working and change how Histopathology services are delivered within the hospital and across the wider healthcare environment. This will include new estate, new technology, IT, improved information and performance management systems, new functions.The post holder will work across all workstreams in support of external experts to design and prepare for these new and improved process to be incorporated into Histopathology’s future way of working. Ensuring that all service improvements and process improvements are able to meet the highest quality and accreditation standards will fall within the scope of this role’s responsibility.
You will have extensive experience within Histopathology and leading on projects including implementation of Digital pathology and new technologies within Histopathology to provide an efficient and effect service to the patients.
As a strong team player, you will also possess excellent communication skills and must be able to take responsibility for day-to-day planning and prioritisation of workload. A strong commitment to personal and professional development and teamwork are all essential for this post.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will coordinate and manage all aspects of the local delivery of Digital Pathology and automation projects in CUH Histopathology, working with laboratory, procurement, IT, and business management as it moves to a new Facility at Discovery drive.
They will be in charge in delivering digital pathology and automation projects for the development of Histopathology service, as well as maintaining and leading on automation pathways within the CUH Histopathology department.
They will be responsible in leading on maintaining new technologies and IT/ LIMS interface in collaboration with the Histopathology team, IT and EPIC beaker at CUH.
The delivery of these projects will involve a wide range of stakeholders including senior directors and managers, pathology clinicians and scientists, and IT / technical experts internal and external to CUH. Excellent interpersonal skills, strong planning, the capacity to challenge, and the ability to establish strong and effective working relationships at all levels will therefore be fundamental to a successful outcome.The post-holder will need high levels of self-motivation, tenacity and resilience, and should be experienced in the application of structured programme management processes and interventions.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Degree level education or equivalent experience
- HCPC registration as Biomedical Scientist/ Clinical Scientist
- Masters Degree or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Recognised project management qualification at foundation level, e.g. PRINCE1, Agile or equivalent experience
- MBA or equivalent
- Additional post graduate qualifications
- Any NHS accredited leadership training or development programme
Experience
Essential criteria- Demonstrable experience in leading or managing the delivery of large, complex, long term (3yrs +) corporate projects that have strategic implications.
- Extensive specialist knowledge of project management practices, tools and techniques, and effective risk and issue management.
- Specialist knowledge of change management or organisational development.
- Specialist knowledge of problem solving tools, techniques and approaches applied in a multi-disciplinary and cross-organisational environment.
