Role Overview

This is a part-time role for a freelancer, working 2 days per week from our central London office (Monday and Thursday).

The Circulation Manager will report to the Subscriptions Marketing Manager and will lead the planning and daily operations of distributing Digital Frontier’s print magazine. This role is key to driving and sustaining the magazine's print circulation through effective strategies.

By ensuring timely and targeted distribution to our audience, the Circulation Manager will support our publication's growth. The role involves close collaboration with the marketing, editorial, and sales teams to develop distribution channels, manage subscriptions, and analyse market trends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage relationships with distributors, fulfilment partners, and stockists
  • Collaborate with distributors to expand stockist partnerships across the UK, US, and Europe
  • Coordinate the distribution of our magazine at prominent industry locations outside of regular stockists, such as reception areas in technology hubs
  • Serve as the primary in-house contact for magazine delivery fulfilment, coordinating directly with our distributor
  • Partner with the marketing, events, and commercial teams to implement promotional projects that enhance the magazine's visibility
  • Work alongside the Subscriptions Marketing Manager to build a controlled circulation list and oversee fulfilment
  • Drive magazine marketing initiatives and growth strategies
  • Grow magazine sales through enhanced distribution and targeted marketing tactics
  • Provide insights and guidance to the sales team to support advertising sales opportunities for the magazine
  • Develop campaigns to convert occasional buyers into loyal subscribers
Requirements
  • You bring more than 5 years of experience in circulation management, ideally within an independent or small publishing environment
  • You have a comprehensive understanding of print magazine distribution across subscription-based and retail channels
  • You're analytically minded with the ability to interpret data for strategic decisions
  • You have experience in budget management and cost optimisation
  • You're skilled at developing and implementing effective circulation strategies
  • You're talented at negotiation and relationship-building
  • You're a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills for cross-team collaboration
  • You have a high level of proficiency with Microsoft tools
  • You have a high attention to detail
Desired Skills
  • You have experience in digital circulation and cross-platform distribution strategies
  • You're familiar with publishing industry trends and can adapt circulation strategies accordingly
  • You're knowledgeable about marketing automation tools and CRM systems, such as Hubspot CRM
  • You're able to analyse competitors and identify market trends to maintain competitive advantage
  • You have previous experience using Asana for project management
  • You have a natural interest in digital technology
