Learning Support Assistant – Manchester

Location: Manchester
Start Date: Easter 2025
Pay Rate: £85 - £105 per day (dependent on experience)

Contract Type: Full-time, long-term

A high-performing secondary school in Manchester is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support students who need additional help with their learning. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with young people, ensuring they reach their full potential in a supportive and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • One-to-One & Small Group Support: Assist students with SEN or additional learning needs.
  • Adapting Learning Materials: Modify classroom resources to support individual learning styles.
  • Encouraging Student Independence: Help students develop confidence and self-reliance in their learning.
  • Classroom Assistance: Work alongside teachers to ensure lessons run smoothly and all students are engaged.
  • Monitoring Progress: Track student development and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Supporting Well-being: Assist students with both academic and emotional challenges.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational or support capacity.
  • A strong understanding of SEN and additional learning needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).

This role is perfect for: aspiring teachers, psychology graduates, and those with a background in youth work, social care, or mentoring.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
