Job overview
An opportunity has arisen within London North West Healthcare NHS Trust for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the Estates and Capital Team as a Maintenance Supervisor.
The Supervisor will report to the Deputy Head of Estates and have responsibility and accountability for ensuring that Trust premises are safe for patients, staff and visitors. This role is a member of the Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) team with professional accountability for estate building fabric, and strong emphasis on operational management of the engineering infrastructure and maintenance teams.
The Supervisor will support the Estates management team by Line managing, co-ordinating and assisting the trade staff in performing their day to day duties on a wide range of engineering plant, equipment and services. Ensuring satisfactory standards of discipline, conduct, welfare and timekeeping are maintained and to implement Trust policies in respect to managed personnel.
The supervisor will issue and control programmes of maintenance, repairs, minor improvements and capital work across the Trust as directed. Ensuring acceptable standards of productivity and quality are achieved whilst also complying with statutory requirements, Trust safety standards and procedures.
Work under own initiative to undertake maintenance, repairs, minor improvements, and capital work across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
To undertake all work activities as requested by the Head of Operational Estates To work in accordance with Trust safety rules and procedures at all times.
To be prepared to work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.
To actively oversee the operation and control of computerised engineering planned maintenance and labour control scheme, including completion of all paper work and reports as required by the scheme.
Ensure compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, COSHH Regulations, Building and Construction Regulations and the Trust’s Safety Policy.
To carry out and/or delegate engineering surveys and compile data, as and when instructed by line managers.
To work overtime to carry out repairs/maintenance not possible during normal hours.
To liaise with the Head of Operational Estates regarding plant or equipment failures, or deviations to regulations, and to request the supply of goods and/or services as necessary.
At all times when on duty or on call, to carry Trust communication devices such as mobile telephones or two-way radios to facilitate immediate response to emergencies.
