Support Worker (Part-Time) – Newquay (Hybrid)
We are recruiting for a Support Worker to provide caring and professional support to a male in his 40’s, who lives in his own home. You will provide mindful support and assistance to a gentleman with complex needs and limited mobility.Our client acquired a brain injury and has substance misuse issues. He lives independently and does not require personal care however, he has a poor memory, and you will help support him to plan his day, make decisions as well as organise and keep appointments.
You’ll support and motivate him to access the community and participate in a wide variety of activities including playing pool, going fishing, go-karting and playing golf. He also enjoys going out for a drive, to the beach, getting a takeaway and going out for a coffee, so you will be out and about as part of your role.
The client’s family are very important to him and visit regularly. It is important to the client that his family remain involved as parents and siblings. He will regularly ring his family and they have a good understanding of his needs however as his support hours increase, they would like to reduce their input as “carers” and return to more traditional family roles.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:- Some experience of caring or providing care for clients with physical and mental health issues
- Good understanding of the personal and physical needs of a client with physical and cognitive difficulties.
- Ability to follow instructions / guidance.

- Experience of learning / cognitive / behavioural support/substance misuse/mental health issues

Essential requirements: Full UK driving licence.
This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS.
Salary: £18.90 per hour weekdays (face-to-face)
£21.00 per hour weekends (face-to-face)On call rates: £11.50 per hour weekdays
£12.50 per hour weekendsJob Types: Part-time
Schedule: 8 hours weekday hours face-to-face (Friday 5pm – 7pm) – weekly
12 hours weekday on call (Friday 7pm – 10pm) - weekly12 hours weekend on call (Sunday 10am – 10pm) once a month
There is a possibility that additional fortnightly weekend hours may become available.
There will be an opportunity to pick up additional shifts to cover annual leave and other absences.
