Administrator – Community Learning and Skills
How you'll make a difference:
Working with leaders across the Adult Community Learning and Skills Team, you will maximise the positive impact of the service on the lives of people and communities across South Gloucestershire.
Your work will be at the heart of the service. Working across the team in community learning, adult skills and employability, you will maintain systems and processes to improve our services.
What you will be doing:
- As the first point of contact for the public, you will provide administrative support to the team, helping to ensure the service continues to run effectively for the local community.
- It will be key for you to accurately record and maintain records including financial data.
- Regularly, you will liaise with partner organisations, internal teams and funders to ensure our employability programmes are successful.
- You will contact participants and referrers directly to determine eligibility and to gather feedback to help improve the service.
What we need from you:
- We require you to have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade C/4 or above, including English and maths or an equivalent qualification, or relevant experience in an administrative role including data management.
- It is essential that you can use computerised administrative systems and spreadsheets and can accurately input data in a confidential way.
- You must have strong communication skills with the ability to provide advice and guidance to a range of service users.
- Given the elements of the role, you will be able to work on your own initiative to meet deadlines.
What you need to know:
- This is a part-time role, working 18.5 hours per week. Your salary will be pro-rated to hours worked.
- This is a limited term contract, ending 31st March 2026.
- This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Yate and working from home.
Interviews will be held on Thursday 12th June 2025.
How a career at South Gloucestershire Council is different:
- As part of our benefits package, you will receive generous annual leave (pro rata), employee wellbeing support and you will have access to a range of staff discounts, including eye tests, travel, shopping and leisure activities.
- We recognise that our diverse team of skilled and dedicated people make us a great place to work. We welcome applications from everyone and ensure that individuals are selected, promoted and developed on the basis of their merits and abilities.
- We know our team work best when they have balance in their lives, and we offer genuine flexibility to help them achieve that work/life balance.
- We value our staff as individuals, investing in their careers and we are recognised for the quality, breadth and depth of our training and development offer, which helps make the greatest long-term difference in work.
- We're building and shaping communities which people are proud of.
- We're working with the most vulnerable in our community to help them achieve what they want in life.
- We're investing in our schools to ensure every child and young person in South Gloucestershire achieves their full potential.
We've achieved a great deal, but we need talented and dedicated people to ensure we continue to make a difference.
We’re making a difference, be part of it!
