People’s sight matters.

This belief is the guiding principle of Moorfields Eye Charity (MEC), and one that embodies their mission of improving eye health by funding innovation in research, education and care.

Sight loss is an increasing reality for many, and there are currently over 2 million people in the UK living with sight loss. An ageing population means the number of people likely to suffer from common eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease is expected to rise rapidly over the next 15 years.

In the UK, 79% of people over the age of 64 live with sight loss - beyond the immediate trauma, the experience of sight loss can be isolating and costly, for individuals, as well as their family members and carers.

As the main fundraising and grant-making charity supporting the work of Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (Moorfields) and its academic partner UCL (in particular the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology), MEC has been at the forefront of investment in life-changing eye health, benefitting patients in the UK and around the world.

As part of their continued evolution, the MEC are seeking a new Director of Finance and Resources. Reporting to the CEO, this role will lead and manage the financial and resources strategy of MEC to achieve growth targets of £10m+ annual income by 2027-28 and support strategic initiatives like the £65m Oriel construction project.

This multifaceted leadership role demands financial acumen, strategic foresight, and a collaborative approach and will oversee all financial operations, risk management, IT, HR, investments and facilities, contributing to the charity’s overall strategic success.

Applicants must possesses a commitment to MEC's mission, values and plan to deliver an ambitious programme to increase fundraising and grant-making.

As an organisation that is committed to working in an equitable, diverse and inclusive environment MEC encourage applications from all backgrounds.
