The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2024/2025 and will be implemented in November 2024 backdated to 1st April 2024 where applicable.

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the Specialist Palliative Care Team within our Community Directorate Admin Services, in the role of a Band 3 Medical Secretary. You will be based at our Ty Cymorth Palliative Care site at Glangwili General Hospital in Carmarthen working 5 days per week, 9am to 5pm.

Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive clinical secretarial and administrative support to consultants and managerial staff. The post holder will work autonomously within defined parameters and with minimal daily supervision.

The post holder will be required to perform typing/ word processing, audio typing. Maintain records both manually and on computerised system and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information i.e. diagnostic reports, clinical letters, post mortem reports and results.

48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Essential criteria
  • Essential Level 3 qualification (e.g. A Levels, AS Levels, NVQ3) or equivalent demonstrable experience of administrative / office skills and knowledge.

Experience

  • Experience of working in an administrative / office environment.
  • Familiar and competent with Microsoft IT packages, especially Work, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Familiar and confident using email and searching the internet

  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
