An opportunity has become available in the North D2A bed service for a permanent level 1/Band 5 Social Worker. We need a passionate, resilient and dynamic individual to join this knowledgeable and enthusiastic team.
The work is varied and challenging, focusing on pathway 2 of the D2A service. You will be supporting and assessing people within a rehab focused bed-based setting following an acute hospital stay. The core work will be undertaking statutory assessments in complex situations, so knowledge of Mental Capacity and Continuing Health Care legislation is crucial.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be part of a multi-disciplinary team including nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, discharge facilitators and support staff within the Haywood hospital and private residential and nursing homes. The team also works closely with a number of external partners such as the ICB and Staffordshire County Council.The work is on a short-term basis and cases are usually closed within 12 weeks; this means the successful individual will need to be able to work at pace and be able to move effectively between competing priorities.
We are looking for a social worker that wants to develop their skills and progress. We will support the right individual to progress to level 2 social worker when the ASYE is completed, provided they are able to demonstrate B6 capability.

Social Work Learning Academy (SWLA)
On appointment, the post holder will be auto-enrolled in the SWLA and aligned to the appropriate British Association of Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework. The relevant SWLA ‘stage’ (i.e. stage 1 (ASYE), 2 (Social Worker) or 3 (Advanced Social Worker) will also be agreed taking all prior Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and relevant experience into consideration.The post holder will be required to take responsibility for their own Continuous Professional Development.

Person specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria- Professional Social Work qualification, DipSW, CQSW, CSS, BA, MA or Foreign qualification where certified by the Professional Social Work regulatory body
- Ensuring current registration with the Professional Social Work regulatory body at all times
- A commitment to on-going personal and professional development
- To undergo appropriate training to achieve Assessed Year in Practice (ASYE)
- Good keyboard / IT skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email and PowerPoint
- A clear understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of working with Adults and older Adults with mental health needs and their carers
- Experience of social work in other user groups/settings i.e. Children and Families, Learning Disability, Mental Health.
