Assistant Service Manager- Waste Management - Birmingham - ref. d72724119
These roles have become available off the back of a large scale transformation programme that the team are undertaking, which will include a service redesign and cultural refresh. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality services are delivered and targets are met.
This role is paying circa £200-£300 per day and are temp to perm for the right candidate. These roles are based on site in Birmingham 5 days a week.
The key responsibilities of this role are:
- Supervise and control allocated resources to provide effective and efficient quality services within the agreed budget.
- Assist the Service Manager in forward planning, programming, and directing functions within the area.
- Manage, motivate, and develop employees to maintain high levels of satisfaction and achievement.
- Present reports and represent the Division at Ward Committees and other meetings.
- Promote and ensure compliance with all City Council Policies and Procedures, including Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety at Work.
- Deputise for the Service Manager as required.
- Work on a rotational basis with flexible start/finish times to meet service requirements.
- Out of hours working may be required for special events and Council Emergencies.
In order to be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience: Supervising in a large multiservice organisation, including employee development and performance monitoring. Working knowledge of waste management and relevant policies and legislation.
- Skills and Abilities: Ability to manage conflicting demands, prioritise, and work to short deadlines. Excellent communication skills and the ability to write clear and concise reports.
- Transformation/Project Experience; previous experience working on a large scale transformation programme.
- Training: Evidence of continuing professional development and willingness to undertake appropriate training.
PLEASE NOTE: The post-holder will be required to work from any administrative centre within the City.
It is essential for the post holder to have a current driving licence and a motor vehicle with valid insurance that includes ‘business use’.
