What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative leader of Geography, with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to achieving high standards within a thriving department. The successful candidate will have a strong academic background and be an excellent classroom practitioner who is capable of inspiring and motivating students.The successful applicant will have ultimate oversight of the Department and lead the Deputy Head of Geography.
We are a very popular subject and large numbers opt to study the GCSE. We study the AQA syllabus at GCSE and have impressive results. We take our GCSE students on a compulsory residential 3-day trip, usually to Wales, to complete their fieldwork requirement for the exams.At A-level we study the Edexcel Specification and are equally popular. We currently have two sets in Year 12 and 13.An outstanding teacher of Geography is required to join our extremely successful and innovative department in our high achieving school.
Geography is an exceptionally popular subject with a high profile within the school. Approximately half of all GCSE students opt to study Geography at GCSE and there are 4 sets in the Sixth Form. We are a collaborative team who aim to foster ‘Geographical thinkers’ and ‘Global Citizens’ through our teaching.
