The role is split between a LSA role and an intervention tutor role. For example, in the mornings, you would take on the LSA role during quality first teaching and in the afternoons the intervention tutor role.Suitability and training opportunities to suit this role may be discussed during the interview process.

  • Assist quality first teaching and learning,working with classroom teachers to support the learning and assessment, providing meaningful feedback on children’s attainment and progress.
  • Establish a positive relationship with pupils in order to support them in feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn.
  • Help develop positive learning behaviours, working collaboratively with the class teacher to positively manage behaviour adopting a calm restorative approach.
  • Support our young people with their learning and wellbeing to ensure every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment.
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all according to the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Engage in staff training and whole school development aswell as support staff PPA (planning, preparation and assessment) time to support quality first teaching.
As an Intervention Tutor, you will also;
  • Provide 1:1 and small group tutoring to children to improve outcomes and opportunities and assess children's progress.
  • Work collaboratively with the academic mentor and class teachers to provide high quality additional tutoring.
  • Reflect, evaluate and improve provision to ensure children's needs are met.
