We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated Pharmacy Technician who wants to work in our clinical trials team delivering a range of trials including ATMPs, whilst developing their specialist clinical trials skills and knowledge.

Main duties of the job

This newly established post offers an individual the opportunity to support our expanding and well-established Clinical Trials team based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. You will work with our fantastic team helping to deliver cutting edge clinical trials to Cancer patients.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Level 3 Diploma in Principles and practice for pharmacy technicians or equivalent
  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
  • ILM Level 3 Leadership and Management qualification or equivalent
  • Quality Improvement training
  • Practice Supervisor
  • HR training
Desirable criteria
  • Specialist technical / Management modules or equivalent experience in Aseptic preparation

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience of good performance in previous posts
  • Previous significant experience of working in clinical trials
  • Demonstrable experience of providing pharmacy professional training, and supporting training
  • Experience with undertaking appraisals, devising PDPs, setting SMART objectives and creating action plan
  • Experience of collecting, manipulating and presenting data in appropriate format using Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Desirable criteria
  • Experience with management of staff including experience of conducting disciplinary meetings and chairing meetings
  • Previous experience of working in Aseptics
  • Evidence of project management
  • Experience with recruitment and selection; chairing interviews

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of GCP, GMP and QA and clinical trial legislation
  • Understanding of GPhC Revalidation requirements
  • Knowledge of medicines management systems at ward level
  • Up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice, e.g., controlled drugs, Health and Safety at Work
  • Understanding of stock control systems
  • Knowledge of drugs, side effects and where to find further information
  • Knowledge of Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines requirements
  • Understanding of the importance of adherence to SOPs and legislation
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of patient safety initiatives
  • Able to solve problems to the level appropriate to the post
  • Significant experience and knowledge of line managing staff
