The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across Health & Justice, Armed Forces and SARCs.

The post is responsible for providing professional expertise to the outcome of the business processes for the Department or Directorate.

The post holder will define current processes, facilitate discussions, and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted in the definition of future processes, document those processes as they are agreed and oversee their delivery.

The post holder is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • play a key role in supporting the health & justice delivery team with links to supporting the corporate team helping ensure the oversight of programme management and governance is in place and adhered to.
  • providing high quality support to key underpinning governance structures within the portfolio and wider to include Spec Comm Health & Justice Delivery Group and Strategy Group
  • act as a key contact, and oversight of inter-departmental requests supporting any strategy developments as required
  • ensure that best practice is developed and delivered throughout the directorate and shared with regional leads for national programme alignment. Challenge ways of working and persuade, motivate, and influence other senior managers to realign their practice where necessary.
  • oversee the tracking of progress against plans and transition milestones, ensuring appropriate processes are in place to flag issues, risks, cross-programme dependencies, and concerns with the relevant stakeholders.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
NHS England hold a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met. To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you’ll usually need to be paid the ‘standard’ salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the ‘going rate’ for your job, whichever is higher.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Heads of Migrant Health in developing policies, director briefs and papers and agendas in the migrant health agenda and wider governance and assurance of health and justice, armed forces and SAAS.

The post holder will support the Associate Director on matters arising from key stakeholders including policy leads from across Justice, Migrant Health Armed Forces and SAAs as repository for the overall programme database.

  • To ensure the Migrant Health programmes of works are well-organised, to recognised national programme support methodology, with an auditable record of programme budget, documentation, risks, issues, and decisions, so that progress can be evidenced, and lessons learned.
  • To work collaboratively across NHS England matrix, including integrating the National Director’s portfolio.
Enabling patient and public involvement
  • To act as a champion for patients and their interests and involve the public and patients in the policy development and decision-making of NHS England.
  • To ensure all public and patient contact with the office is of the highest professional standard.
  • To embed patient and public involvement within NHS England at all levels of decision making.
Promoting equality and reducing inequalities
  • To uphold organisational policies and principles on the promotion of equality.
  • To create an inclusive working environment where diversity is valued, everyone can contribute, and everyday action ensure we meet our duty to uphold and promote equality.
Partnership and cross boundary working
  • To ensure that the internal and regional programme partners / stakeholders are engaged and consulted according to the programme plan. To work across NHS England external boundaries with Migration Health and criminal justice partners including Home Office, HMPPS, probation services and local authorities, engaged with the various projects.
  • To ensure that consistent and high-quality communication is used to promote and achieve the objectives of the programme.
Leadership for transformational change
  • To model a collaborative and influencing style of working, negotiating with others to achieve the best outcomes. Embedding this approach across the Directorate.
  • To line manage the migrant health support team ensuring continuity through strong leadership values
Using insight and evidence for improvement
  • To use previous experience of project / programme working to improve the working practices of the team.
  • To use previous healthcare / NHS experience to suggest improvements to the deliverables of the programme.
Developing an excellent organisation
  • To ensure health, safety, and wellbeing of all staff within the department.
  • To ensure compliance with all confidentiality and governance requirements within the department.
  • To always adhere to the NHS Managers Code of Conduct and any other relevant professional codes of conduct.
