About the Role:

As a Sheltered Housing Officer, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day management of our sheltered housing schemes. Your primary focus will be to provide support to our tenants, ensuring their well-being and helping them thrive in a safe, community-oriented environment.

This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract with a South-West London Local Authority.
  • Salary ranges from £36,432 to £44,147
  • Full Time - Monday to Friday
  • Working hours are 36 per week and can be 8am to 4pm / 8:30am to 4:30pm / 9am to 5pm
  • This is a front line role therefore you will be based on site every day in a scheme based in SW15. There is scope to work from home once per month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular well-being checks and implement tailored support plans for tenants.
  • Oversee the safety and maintenance of the sheltered scheme, including fire alarms and communal areas.
  • Manage budgets for social activities and assist tenants with benefit claims to maximise their income.
  • Collaborate with health and social care services to address tenants' needs effectively.
  • Foster a sense of community by organising social activities and encouraging tenant participation in Resident Associations.
What We're Looking For:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A genuine understanding of the aims of sheltered housing.
  • Experience working with older individuals, either in community settings or their homes.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to engage effectively with tenants and external agencies.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to maintain accurate records and complete concise reports.
  • Proficiency in IT applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Confidence in managing emergency situations and knowledge of health and safety procedures.
