Job overview
We’re looking for a Highly Specialist Paediatric Audiologist to join our dedicated team and help shape the future of paediatric audiology services across our three hospital sites in Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City, and Hertford.

What You’ll Do:
- Work at a senior level within the Paediatric Audiology team
- Travel between our three hospital sites
- Contribute to a major service improvement initiative led by our Head of Audiology, Dawn Bramham
- Play a key role in clinical assessments, observations, and governance
- Support the Paediatric Service Lead in delivering high-quality, patient-focused care

Main duties of the job
Select, fit hearing aids where appropriate and rehabilitate routine and complex babies and children.
Perform and interpret diagnostic tests and explain the results of these tests to patients, relatives and carers in an appropriate and empathetic manner, being sensitive to the complex communication difficulties of patients who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Have a multi-agency approach to audiological care and understand the role of the RNID and National Deaf Children’s Society and NHSP.
Supervise/observe and assess audiologists and students as and when required and will be responsible for appraisals of lower grade staff.
Be professionally and clinically responsible and accountable for all aspects of their own work, updating knowledge and skills to maintain continuing professional development.
Modify patient’s ear moulds to facilitate comfort of fit and/or modify to change.
Have specialised knowledge of paediatric audiology and be able to perform a range of routine and complex

Skills
Essential criteria- Good Communication Skills to deal with general public enquiries.

- Knowledge of NHS Hearing aids for Adults & Paeds Implants criteria
- Previous experience of overseeing Student trainees
- Experience of team leadership
- Evidence of service development work
- Research / clinical auditing
Previous Experience
Essential criteria- Assessing babies and children’s hearing using behavioural testing, VRA, Play/Performance Audiometry, Speech testing
- Use of questionnaires
- Paediatric Rehabilitation including hearing aid fitting and adjustment
- NHS Experience as an employee
- Experience with difficult or challenging situation
- Diagnostic Auditory Brainstem response testing experience.
Qualifications / Training
Essential criteria- BSc (Hons) Audiology BAAT Part II or CAC or CCC Membership of BAA / BSA
- Evidence of relevant CPD training
- RCCP / HCPC membership
- MSc Audiology RCCP / HCPC membership Clinical Scientist registration
- Completed HTS Modules
- Other post-graduate qualification Stage 1 or above BSL
