We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic nurse to work within the oncology team as a nurse specialist for lung cancer and are seeking a motivated professional to join our team. You will be working closely with the clinical nurse specialists for lung cancer, oncology consultants and the team in the Sunrise centre and other colleagues across the Trust.This role plays a pivotal part within this service, including meeting the needs of lung cancer patients receiving anti-cancer therapy and providing seamless holistic care.
Main duties of the job
As a role model for cancer nursing practice, you will develop skills to assess, manage and treat patients, as well as working towards supporting and leading on the introduction of new initiatives and pathways. You will have post-registration experience in oncology / haematology/ palliative care or relevant speciality.
Within this role you will be required to develop the skills of clinical leadership, managing change and have knowledge of managing resources, people and situations effectively, whilst keeping a clam head in a challenging environment.
This is a part time position (34 hours per week)

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder is primarily responsible to the clinical nurse specialist. Excellent communication skills are required as the post holder will be responsible for discussing care pathways with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
As part of the multi-disciplinary team, and under the direction and supervision of a senior nurse, the post-holder will utilise their specialist knowledge and skills to under-take relevant clinical assessment, reviewing clinical signs and results to support the patient’s on-going treatment plan as required.

Essential criteria- NMC registration
- Holds / working toward a first level degree
- Completion or commitment to undertake relevant extended role competencies
- Completion or commitment to undertake post registration qualification in Oncology/palliative care or relevant specialty
- Able to work independenly or as part of a team
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- University qualification in specialty
- Teaching/assessment/mentoring qualification
- Managerial experience/ leading a team/Nurse in charge experience
Experience
