Technology and Engineering Technician - Greenwich
Leigh Academy Halley is now recruiting for a Technology & Engineering Technician to join us in October 2024.
This is a truly fantastic opportunity for a passionate Technology & Engineering Technician to become part of a well-established, highly collaborative, and successful Technology & Engineering team that works hard to ensure that students enjoy a challenging, dynamic, and rewarding curriculum.Students study Technology Years 7-9 as part of our International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, and the department offers a comprehensive range of subjects at GCSE in Key Stage 4, and as part of our Key Stage 5 provision. Our curriculum is enriched through our state-of-the-art Engineering and Design Centre opened in June 2022 which not only supports the development of our thriving STEM specialism but also gives students access to world-class learning facilities.

Key responsibilities, as outlined in the job description, include;
Set high expectations that inspire, motivate, and challenge students
Promote good progress and outcomes by students
To prepare materials and equipment for practical lessons
To maintain and monitor consumables and equipment in Technology, Design and Engineering to ensure all pupils can access a wide range of materials and processes as part of the curriculum
To maintain and monitor stock control
To assist the Director of Learning and staff members in in the ordering of materials and equipment
To carry out weekly material and equipment checks across all Technology rooms
To assist staff in the production and updating of displays
To provide technical support to staff during lesson time as required
To support small-group intervention for key exam groups across the curriculum
To work alongside the department in preparing standardisation materials for exam moderation
Carry out weekly Health and Safety checks on all equipment and report directly to the Director of Learning
To undertake any Health and Safety training as required by the DOL.
This is a permanent position working 35 hours per week, term time + 1 week inset and offering an actual salary of £24,392 per annum (£27,984 full-time equivalent).
