Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is excited to offer an opportunity for a Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time position starts in March and runs until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become a permanent role depending on performance.

About the Role:

This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in mathematics and a passion for supporting students' learning and development in this subject. You will play a key role in ensuring students gain confidence and achieve their potential in mathematics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective mathematics lessons to students of varying abilities.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group tuition to help students overcome specific challenges in mathematics.
  • Assist students in understanding complex mathematical concepts, ensuring lessons are accessible and tailored to their individual needs.
  • Use your subject knowledge to inspire and motivate students, fostering a love for mathematics.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement strategies for improving students' performance in maths.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, contributing to reports and action plans to support their academic growth.
  • Offer pastoral support to students, addressing academic or personal challenges they may face.
  • Help create a positive and focused learning environment, promoting good behavior and mutual respect.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a strong academic background in mathematics (a degree in maths or a related subject is highly desirable).
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly.
  • Be passionate about education and committed to helping students succeed.
  • Show adaptability, patience, and resilience when supporting students with varying needs and abilities.
  • Be proactive and creative in finding solutions to overcome learning barriers.
  • Experience in working with young people or in an educational setting is advantageous but not essential.
