Principal IC Design Engineer
Raspberry Pi Cambridge Full-time
Raspberry Pi is seeking an experienced Digital IC Design Engineer to join our innovative ASIC team. The role is based on site in Cambridge with an expectation that the successful candidate comes into the office on a full time basis.
The work of the whole ASIC team includes:
- Architecture, considering software/hardware trade-offs
- RTL design
- IP selection and integration
- Verification at block and system level
- FPGA platforms for software development and extended verification
- Implementation including DFT, synthesis, place and route, timing closure, and sign-off checks
- Package definition and working with assembly partners
- Validation and characterisation
- Test pattern generation and ATE bring-up
- Production monitoring and management

Requirements
Principal IC Design Engineer
As an experienced design engineer you will be capable of and comfortable with working autonomously. Your responsibilities will include:
- Design, IP integration, and verification planning and execution, with constant interaction with the rest of the design team
- Specifying and/or configuring designs
- Working closely with verification teams to develop plans and execute block-level and chip-level verification
- Assisting the implementation team with constraints development and timing closure
This role requires a good level of experience and a wide range of skills. The ideal candidate would have some or all of the following skills and experience:
- Hands-on experience working on complex SoC designs
- Experience of digital and physical silicon IP, such as processors, USB, PCIe, DDR SDRAM, Wi-Fi, SDIO/eMMC, MIPI CSI/DSI
- Experience of interconnect standards ACE, AXI, AHB, and APB
- Ability to form requirements and specify architectural features
- Expert-level Verilog/SystemVerilog for design and verification
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Bash, Python, Tcl, etc)
The following would also be useful:
- Experience of Cadence simulation tool flow
- Experience with ASIC/FPGA synthesis and implementation, embedded systems, DFT architecture and insertion, software development, scripting
