Job overview
The post holder will provide support and assistance to Healthcare Professionals within all areas of the Trust. The role will be to work under the direction of the Logistics Transport Team Leader and are primarily concerned with the movement of goods and services in the most efficient and effective way, using the correct lifting and handling equipment.
The post holder will be responsible for providing a high quality service from designated destinations as directed, maintaining high standards of service delivery and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff and visitors at all times.They will be responsible for ensuring that all vehicles meet the daily demands of this service.

Hours of work are 37.5 per week working between the hours of 6am and 9pm on a rota basis which will include weekends and bank holidays.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all that all vehicles are kept (defected) checked before you commence with driving -any defects are to be reported to your team leader on shift.
Responsible for providing a high quality transportation service from designated destinations as directed, maintaining high standards of service delivery and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff and visitors at all times. They will be responsible for ensuring the vehicles meet the daily demands of this service.
A basic knowledge of Health & Safety is required in order to correctly complete incident forms and report any untoward incidents to Team Leaders.
Make sure that the trust grounds are clear of any scrap or any unwanted items (furniture).
Roll cages to be collected daily.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Logistics Transport Duties
Collect soiled linen from all wards and departments and deliver to the designated storage areas for later collection by Transport.
Collect clean linen from the designated storage areas and deliver to all wards and departments including the emergency adhoc linen requests. Put all items in the linen cupboards in a neat and tidy manner.
Undertake specific site cleaning both internally and externally as directed by the Team Leaders, wearing appropriate protective equipment where necessary.
Assist with the delivery of medical gases to the Trust and provide a delivery service following requests from wards and departments.
Distribute pharmaceuticals including the safe transportation and delivery to wards and departments of controlled drugs.
Assist other staff with their duties such as furniture removal etc.
Safe use of equipment used personally; appropriate use of expensive/highly complex equipment e.g. electric vehicles.
To maintain electric vehicles and equipment to defined standards at all times, reporting any defects to the Team Leaders. This will include ensuring that all vehicles are in operational readiness, carry out safety checks including re-charging and topping up of batteries as required.
Radios are to be collected from the Co-ordinators office at the start of every shift, ensuring they are switched on and fully charged.
To adopt a flexible approach in response to operational needs regarding duties and hours of work.
Assist Patient Escort with patient movement as and when required.
Demonstrates own activities to new or less experienced employees – supports induction on new starters.
Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required as appropriate to the Grade.
Communication
Liaise with clinical staff where appropriate as to the requirements/needs of the department.
Report and relay to appropriate personnel information regarding queries/problems.
Ensure that the communication equipment is fit for daily use, test batteries each day and report any fault to the Team Leader.
Other
Undertakes surveys or audits, as necessary to own work.
Follow departmental policies, comment on proposals for changes in working practices.
Use equipment safely and take a duty of personal of care in relation to equipment.
Demonstrates own duties to new or less experienced employees.

Training & qualifications
Essential criteria- Full Driving Licence with category C1 entitlement
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence Card (CPC)
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance
- Experience of driving commercial vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes
- Experience in the use of digital tachographs.
