Communication and Key Working RelationshipsTo communicate all relevant information within the team to ensure the continual running of the service.To communicate with enquires from users and other members of healthcare staff in a polite and helpful manner, seeking senior staff advice where required.To attend and actively participate in the Department's meetings.To respond to urgent requests regarding priority equipment processing via communication from the coordinator or Matron on a daily basis.To inform the Decontamination Team Leader of any raw material shortages and ensure stock is rotated.To report any accidents or untoward occurrences this may involve patients, staff or visitors to the Matron or Team Leader.To work under supervision but with a need to concentrate at all times.To work as part of a team and liaise with the Multidisciplinary Team in a professional manner at all times.

Planning and OrganisationTo actively participate in Taunton & Somerset NHS Foundation Trust's appraisal system review and personal development planning process in accordance with Trust's Policy. Policy, Service, Research & Development ResponsibilityMeet the demands of the department's workload whilst consistently achieving high quality standards which will be measured by in-process checks and non-conformance reports.To use manual dexterity and concentration for the disassembly and reassembly of the reusable medical devices in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.To operate decontamination equipment and carry out routine tests in accordance with the Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedule, Quality Standards and Guidance.To undertake duties as required, consistent with the responsibility of the grade and needs of the service.To refer appropriate issues and raise uncertainties with senior staff.To attend all statutory and mandatory training and Induction as defined by the organisation and service needs and other courses considered appropriate.

Responsibility for Finance, Equipment & Other ResourcesResponsible for the cleaning, decontamination and handling of expensive delicate endoscopic equipment where dismantling/re-assembly and processing must be carried out with extreme care.Care and maintenance of complex decontamination processing machines.To operate complex washer/drier decontamination machines after training.To carry out and document tests of machinery in use on a daily basis.To ensure equipment is loaded correctly into automated washer disinfectors and items have been scanned onto the departments instrument tracking system (TDOC).To be able to use IT systems. Responsibility for Supervision, Leadership & ManagementTo ensure personal protective equipment is worn in all areas as specified in the departmental operational manual.To carry out and document tests of machinery in use on a daily basis.To adhere to the requirements of working with a controlled environment.

To be capable of working alone and unsupervised but ensure documented operational procedures are adhered to. Any Other Specific Tasks RequiredTo be capable of working alone and unsupervised but ensure documented operational procedures are adhered to.To work under supervision but with a need to concentrate at all times.To be able to respond to urgent requests for priority equipment processing from registered nurse or other senior team members on a daily basis.To adhere to the requirements of working within a controlled environment.To be fully understanding of COSHH regulations, especially with regard to hazardous cleaning chemicals.To be responsible for approving loads after decontamination cycles are complete by carrying out various quality checks to ensure instruments are safely decontaminated before use.To ensure production areas are stocked up and stock levels maintained.To participate in the cleaning and maintenance of all the work areas to ensure high standards of cleanliness are achieved.To report any accidents or untoward incidents to staff, patients or visitors following correct trust procedure.To ensure specific instruments are checked after the washing process for cleanliness and highlight any non-conformities by informing the nurse in charge and completing the relevant documentation.
