Bradbury House is a busy NHS respite facility in Binley, Coventry where we provide 24 hours nursing respite care to children and young people aged between 5 and 19 years old. The children have a diagnosed learning disability and present with complex behaviours.
Care is provided over 24 hours / seven days a week and shifts cover early, lates and nights
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join an established team as deputy manager. Applications are welcome from highly motivated nurses who are able to contribute to the development of the respite service, deliver high quality nursing / patient-centred care, have excellent communication skills and good leadership skills.
Main duties of the job
The Deputy Nurse Manager will be providing clinical and managerial leadership to the staff team, attend meetings, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive packages of care within Bradbury House.This is a clinical lead role whilst also contributing to the effective running of the service in the absence of the manager.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To assist the manager to organise and develop a secure and stable environment, considering the physical, psychological, and social needs of the children, young people (CYP) and adults who access the service.
Support the manager in continuously improving service quality, responding to local and national demands in respect of respite provision.
To hold a caseload independently, and work as part of the multi-disciplinary team, for with CYP and adults with learning disabilities, physical health needs and / or behaviours of concern.
To be competent in performing behavioural management / patient safety intervention / nursing skills appropriate to CYP and adults who access the service.
To undertake comprehensive and specific assessments of the CYP, adults and their families’ needs, in partnership with other disciplines/agencies.
Assume responsibility in medical situations, drawing on knowledge, skills, experience to confidently manage the situation to its resolution.
To work as part of a team to coordinate the delivery of care.
To work in partnership with others, to assess and identify the needs of the CYP / adult, considering parenting / carer capacity, the environment, and the individual’s needs.
Follow processes of reasoning which balance additional information against the overall picture of the CYP / adults needs, to develop a hypothesis.
Decide upon interventions from a holistic assessment of the CYP /adults needs.
Undertaking risk assessments.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- RMN/RNLD
- Demonstrable commitment to ongoing professional and personal development.
Experience
Essential criteria- Substantial post qualification experience
- Experience of working with children and learning disabilities
- Experience of working with children with complex healthcare needs
- Significant experience in managing staff
Other
Essential criteria- Ability to travel independently in a timely way
