Purpose of Role: To Provide an Agreed Service as outlined in the needs assessment plan for all the Individuals of IOS care. Prompting independence where possible

Responsibility:
  • Safely provide compassionate care and support that is centred on the individual needs and wishes of each client. You will treat everyone with dignity and respect, assisting them in their day to day lives whilst encouraging and supporting their independence. You may be the only person the Individual sees over a period; it is therefore essential to report any changes or causes for concern to your line manager promptly.
You need to be clear about when to seek help and advice to keep the venerable individual safe and promote their well
  • being. Duties Care and support Providing specific care and support to each Individual as detailed in their care plan and needs assessment.
This could include: All aspects of personal care:
  • Bathing and showering
  • Toileting and continence care
  • Dressing and grooming Taking medicines:
  • Administering, assisting in the taking of medicine from blister packs or an antibiotic only.
  • Administering ear/eye drops which have been prescribed only Eating and drinking:
  • Preparing meals, snacks, hot and cold drinks
  • Assisting clients with eating and drinking
  • Washing up and keeping the kitchen tidy Safely using aids and personal equipment:
  • Walking frames and sticks
  • Wheelchairs, hoists, and stair lifts
  • Sliding sheets and moving boards etc.
Security:
  • Making sure client's homes are safe and secure before leaving by checking doors, windows, and key safes.
  • Ensuring clients always feel safe and secure Assisting with physical and mental activity, including:
  • Taking clients out into the community
  • Helping carry out day to day tasks such as shopping and cleaning
  • Assisting hobbies and recreational activities
  • Working closely with the individual to give them a quality standard of service and meet their individual requirements, and completing any other tasks as outlined in the Individual’s care plan and needs assessment.

Recording and reporting

Completing documents accurately and in detail including:
  • Risk assessments
  • MAR (medication) charts
  • Client log books
  • Recording concerns Financial support recordings issuing all all receipts to be given in to Manager at the office, as well as the individual.
Record any incidents with Individuals on the appropriate form and hand them into the office straight away, including:
  • Body maps - Report forms
  • Concern forms
  • Fluid/ bowel charts
  • Ensuring the correct documents are always filed in client’s home folders
  • Bringing completed paperwork into the office in a timely manner
  • Maintaining Individuals confidentiality, as per company policy
  • speak professionally with doctors, district nurses and social workers and assist them as required by handing information to your manager
  • Report and record all concerns to the Manager or maybe for the attention of Planning officers / Quality Monitoring
  • It is YOUR responsibility to bring to bring any concerns that come up to your manager immediately for action or outcome to take place.
  • You MUST always check your rota and bring any paperwork in person to the office.
You must not send anyone else to do this for you unless you have authorisation from the Manager.

Adhering to guidelines and procedures The company dress code is compulsory, and it is your responsibility to maintain a smart and presentable appearance and always wear full uniform.

  • ID Badge - Black shoes with closed toes
  • NO sandals permitted
  • Making sure to follow health and safety guidelines so as not to put yourself or others at risk, and follow Health and Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health regulations. · Have knowledge of and adhere to company policies and procedures, including reporting procedures and company policy on confidentiality, and making sure you follow all company policy within your role.
  • Protect all equipment, materials, etc. Provided for employee use against loss, waste or misuse through negligence or dishonesty
  • Always keep professional boundaries when caring /supporting individuals and their families
  • Improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization by keeping yourself informed on matters that relate to your job role to enable you to discuss the advantages further with the Registered Manager
  • Taking responsibility for your own development and attending all training provided by the company to ensure you are providing the best service you possibly can to the Individuals we support.
  • Attending taking part in all staff meetings, and your supervisions/ appraisals and any meetings arranged for you to come into office
  • All the company training and staff meetings are compulsory and must be attended unless a valid reason for you not to attend but must speak with your manager to make them aware.
  • Work as part of a team and be flexible when asked to carry out further services required or helping team members if needed, including being available to cover shift
