Job overview

An exciting opportunity to join the Whole Family CAMHS Team (WFT) as part of our initiative to increase the nursing offer in an outreach CAMHS setting. The WFT is a specialist CAMHS service working alongside Camden Local Authority Children’s Services.

The team specialises in working with families facing complex difficulties, who work with several professionals and may struggle to access community services.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Community CAMHS Nurse will be to develop and provide CAMHS nursing input to young people under 18 and their families. This role will support the team to manage their waiting list. The post holder will be working with young people and their families in need of mental health support.

This will involve intensive working with a variety of clients in community settings, within client’s homes, within school settings and in other local authority settings. Providing in-reach to inpatient settings and developing functional relationships with colleagues in a range of agencies is also pivotal to this role.

Working for our organisation

The person will be accountable for a defined caseload of clients, supported by the multi-disciplinary team and will receive regular clinical supervision from a senior member of the Service. They will also be expected to work jointly with other members of the team offering specialist CAMHS advice, consultation and training as required.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree level as a minimum plus developed specialist and practical knowledge equating to postgraduate degree/ Masters level
  • Registered Nurse with up-to-date NMC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant post registration training
  • Advanced Clinical Training in a therapeutic modality(eg. CBT, DBT, Family Therapy).

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post qualification experience within acute or Community Mental health setting (Adult Mental Health or CAMHS)
  • Evidence of clinical experience of working with client population. A clear track record of managing complexity and risk whilst maintaining high standards of service delivery
  • Experience of working in the community
  • A comprehensive understanding of the changing NHS and Social Care environment and the challenges they face
  • Experience of working at all levels of the system with internal and external stakeholders
  • Expertise of managing and treating the client group Some experience of clinical supervision
Desirable criteria
  • Some experience of clinical management of staff
  • Some experience of involvement in project work e.g. quality improvement
  • Nursing work with children and adolescents with mental health problems

Skills

Essential criteria
  • High level of skill and knowledge in safeguarding and risk management
  • Personal duty of care in relation to equipment or resources
  • Basic keyboard skills for updating client records
  • Ability to manage own clinical case load

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Willingness to contribute to strategic and business planning
  • Skills for assessing and communicating complex client conditions and applying appropriate clinical treatments
