To assist Consultants and Nurse Endoscopists in Outpatients and Inpatients Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopy Procedures: Cold Biopsy Patient Observations during upper and lower endoscopy Setting up Gold probe Airway management during upper and lower endoscopy Cold snare polypectomy Hot Biopsy Setting up Argon Clipping Polypectomy<1cm Polyloops Rothnet Second assistant ERCP.
Help in facilitating students, new members of staff to develop their competence through supervision, teaching and role modelling. To provide high quality of care to the patients in line with the Trust values and in accordance with Professional regulations.
People Management and Development The post holder is required to complete an appraisal process and works towards meeting the identified development needs. The post holder is expected to document properly on the Endoscopy Care Pathway, Bluespier and Careflow.
To achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescale. Teach and facilitate learning for all Nursing students and new Health Care Assistant in liaison with the University and the Health Care assistant Programme.
Patient Care Delivery Assist in the maneuvering and positioning of patients and equipment in the theatre Rooms and Recovery. Ensure patients safety, comfort, privacy and dignity is observed at all times. Demonstrate good understanding of the Endoscopy procedure and the consent process.
Ensure that a valid consent is obtained prior to any Endoscopy Procedures. Identify patients individual dependency care needs and provide support for physical, psychological, and social requirements. Provide patients emergency care in all areas of the Endoscopy department.
Ensure that any safeguarding issues are raised appropriately to lead Nurses to enable investigation in relation to vulnerable adults or children. To maintain clear documentation regarding patients treatments, care and future plans of care. Ensure that the Clinical Environment reflects a high standard of cleanliness, be proactive in response to any issues raised in cleaning audits or patients environment inspections.

Recognize own limitation and work only within the scope of professional practice and competence. Contribute to the collection and proper labelling of all types of specimens in line with Trust protocols and Procedures. Work in an effective and organized manner demonstrating excellent time management and organizational skills to effectively deliver person- centered care Report and share information regarding the patients condition, behavior, and responses pre/during/post Endoscopy procedures.

Work within others areas of the trust as requested. Learning and Development Attend mandatory training updates as required. Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and as agreed with the line manager as part of the personal development process.
Achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales. Identify own learning needs and jointly plan training requirements with your line manager. Participate in the Trusts appraisal process to discuss how your role will help deliver the best possible care to our patients and help to deliver any changes in service.
Ensure annual sign off of all relevant DOPs form to show JAG competencies are maintained. This job description is an outline of the role and responsibilities.
