About The Role
Morrison Energy Services is recruiting for a Senior Commercial Manager to work in our Gas Business Unit, covering projects across the UK.
As the Senior Commercial Manager, you will be part of our Senior Leadership Team who are responsible for the safe and successful delivery of projects within the Gas Business Unit.
As the Senior Commercial Manager your responsibilities will include:
- Establish commercial strategy for the Business Unit's projects and agree, amend and monitor the effectiveness with the Business Unit Contract Director
- Set strategy and lead project teams on any formal resolution required with either the Client or supply chain
- Be a visible leader in all aspects of HSEQ
- Manage, develop and lead commercial staff on the projects ensuring they receive required training, both formal and project based, to continue to progress their career
- Review contract documents at tender stage, provide commercial strategy to tenders, identify issues together with solutions for discussion and agreement with person accountable for bid settlement
- Conduct joint project CVR reviews with the Business Unit Contract Director and Finance Business Partner
- Prepare aggregated monthly CVR summary reports for issue and presentation
- Work closely with the Business Unit Finance Team and Project Teams to maintain a robust forward lookahead of financial year performance and Business Plan targets
- Work closely with the Business Unit Finance Team and Project Teams to maximise income and cashflow and monitor performance against forecast.
- Working in conjunction with the Business Unit Contract Director take responsibility for the preparation and presentation of Business Plans and ensure regular review and updates
- Establish relationships with key clients and their professional teams to support the winning of new work and reduce contract disputes
- Deliver commercial training to both the commercial and operational teams.
- Continue to drive improvement in the region’s commercial performance and support the Divisional Commercial Director in improving the sector performance
- Reviews with project based commercial teams to ensure correct contractual obligations are being met including issuing of notices for time and costs to both Client and Subcontractors
- Ensure Teams are effectively managing change and agreeing entitlement to time and money with clients
- Oversee the procurement of subcontractors to ensure the best value selection and develop working relationships with key suppliers
- Support the commercial teams and oversee (in some cases manage hands on) all aspects of Subcontractor accounts and issue resolution
- Degree qualified
- Working experience of standard forms of Contract, particularly NEC 3 and 4 (all Secondary Options)
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Experience in undertaking reviews of contract terms and negotiating with Client
- Proficient in and enthused about leadership and development
- Happy to travel to sites across the UK.
