Graduate Library Trainee

Forest School is a co-educational day school located in the heart of Waltham Forest, catering to students aged 4 to 18. We are seeking to appoint a Graduate Library Trainee to assist in both our Primary and Secondary school libraries. This fixed-term position, running from September 2025 to June 2026, is ideal for individuals seeking work experience prior to undertaking a postgraduate course in Librarianship.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the day-to-day operations of the library,
  • Staffing the library desk (checking books out to students, processing returns, textbook issue and shelving)
  • Supervising students during breaks and lunchtimes
  • Creating seasonal displays.

Completing a self-directed project. This could take the form of:

  • Running a library club or book group,
  • Re-developing and improving elements of the library collection,
  • Arranging author visits or other library events for the benefit of students.

These activities will form part of a comprehensive training program designed to prepare you for your future studies and a career in librarianship.
