What ASEND Tuition Is

We are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in High Wycombe and Bucks. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place.

We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school.

We tutor pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times, and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our tuition is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills.

We need a wide range of tutors to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.

If you think this is not the right role for you, do still apply as we are always on the lookout for people with different expertise to work with our pupils in various locations.

About The Pupil

Our pupil is a 6-year-old girl attending a primary school. She has learning difficulties, speech delay, and is being assessed for ADHD. She is making progress with her language skills and is now using short phrases for communication. At times, her ability to cope with school can be hard for her; she is working hard on managing transitions and changes.

The school is looking for a special needs tutor to work with her using a program that includes sensory activities, play-based learning, and support for emotional regulation. The tutor will need to be skilled in overcoming communication and learning barriers to help her access sessions calmly and fully engage in activities like arts and crafts.

About you:

  • You’ll have some experience with SEN: Autism, Speech Delays and Behaviours of concern
  • You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way
  • You’ll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
  • You’ll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families - we work closely with families to create a plan
  • Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning
  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
  • Use a person-centred approach in their work
  • Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do
  • Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement.

Benefits:

  • Generous and competitive rates of pay with a pay structure to increase your pay
  • Pay scaling to enable you to increase your rate
  • Opportunities for professional development
  • Friendly support and guidance to enable you to meet the individual needs of learners and to ensure that you feel confident in your position
  • Training in working with children with SEND
  • Option to arrange work around the existing schedule
  • Join a friendly and supportive team

At ASEND you will always be well supported by our highly qualified and experienced team and well-remunerated for your work.
