We are looking to recruit for them a team of experienced Building Health & Safety Manager to lead building safety management, on a strategic and operational level, across our high and low-rise apartment blocks and offices.
Salary and packageFull-time, permanent role based on site or in the office, occasional home working will be available.
Salary DOE
40 hours per week Monday to Friday, with occasionally weekend and callout work when required

Manchester based with some travel across the UK
About the role
As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the company complies with all statutory and non-statutory safety responsibilities in relation to legislation and building regulations. You will also ensure a high level of building safety across all of our developments, with the welfare and safety of our staff, residents and other building users being your top priority.We are looking for someone who has a passion and commitment towards health and safety as well as their own development within the industry.
Essential Experience: A relevant Fire Safety qualification accredited by the IFE or IFSM or equivalent
Comprehensive knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022Experience delivering HRBs within the UK Construction Industry
The successful Health and Safety Manager will have: Qualifications, skills and experience
- NEBOSH Health & Safety Qualified
- A relevant Fire Safety qualification accredited by the IFE or IFSM or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years’ Experience working within the UK Construction and Property Sector(s)
- Comprehensive knowledge, understanding and experience delivering HRBs within the UK Construction Industry
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022
- Motivated, driven and passionate about improvement of H&S
- Good communicator, with a positive, pragmatic mindset and a can-do attitude
- Accountable, self-motivate and results driven
- Excellent data logging, numerical and IT skills
- Able to work closely and establish positive relationship with colleagues
- Experience in carrying out compliance inspections and audits
- Ability to travel to all offices and buildings within the portfolio on a regular basis.
- Must be able to attend all sites and regularly conduct full building walk around inspections and audits
- A full clean UK driving licence
- Ability to travel to Newcastle as and when required, other cities will follow
- Membership of a relevant organisation (IOSH / IIRSM)
- Relevant CSCS Card
- Ability to work clearly and accurately under pressure and tight timescales
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist, develop and maintain information management systems for the safe management of buildings, maintaining accurate records and systems
- Provide advice and ensure compliance with regulations on fire and building safety, legionella, asbestos, electrical and gas
- Conduct audits and inspections in accordance with a monitored programme
- Identify building hazards and ensure remedial works are undertaken
- Communicate with residents about the safe management of their building
- Influence a culture of positive health, safety and wellbeing within the company
- Coordinate the organization and evaluation of disaster recovery drills
- Ensure the accident, incident and near miss reporting procedure is followed across the developments
- Establish positive relationships with a wide range of colleagues and suppliers
- Providing advice to company employees, senior managers, managers and staff, on all aspects appertaining to health, safety and environmental matters
- Arranging and carrying out site safety and environmental audits and safety inspections, maintain records of audits and inspections and ensure necessary corrective measures are agreed and implemented
- Assisting with incident/accident investigations
- Assisting with investigating the environmental implications of the company’s activities and suggesting actions which may prove beneficial to the environment, the company or others
- Continuously seeking, proposing and implementing agreed H&S and environmental performance improvements
- Support on our current cultural drive to improve health safety and environmental standards on company projects and offices
- Assist providing statistical data to the director responsible for SHE to demonstrate where improvements can be made
- Identify root cause analysis of any incidents occurring
- Maintain regular contact with all project teams and office managers to advise on SHE matters
