Providing analysis, review and appraisal on delivery, you’ll support a range of stakeholders to deliver robust portfolio reporting – no two days are the same in this varied role.

- Proactively lead on a range of activities which support the portfolio function in the NHSBSA including, conducting detailed portfolio analysis, creating reports to support effective decision-making and tracking key delivery milestones.
- Managing a complex range of stakeholders with the aim of developing robust Portfolio reporting, as well as supporting the Leadership team with key documentation and action logs. This would include working with stakeholders on business planning and updates to Portfolio Change Plan to assure strategic alignment.
- Undertake effective analysis of key portfolio metrics and use the findings to provide constructive challenge on portfolio delivery confidence and project and programme prioritisation.
- Act as a point of contact for portfolio analysis best practice, support and guidance, driving forward improvements to internal portfolio reporting practice and standards, in line with industry best practice and government frameworks.
- Support the portfolio and assurance team in the daily running of the Portfolio Office, including developing dashboards for reporting, supporting with the delivery of advice for project review boards, risk and issue log maintenance and leading on change control processes for the portfolio.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
In this role, you are accountable for- Conducting accurate and detailed Portfolio analysis, interpretation and presentation of complex data to create Portfolio reports for the Leadership Team, making recommendations to support effective decision-making
- Provide challenge and assurance on portfolio delivery confidence, resulting from effective and detailed Portfolio analysis and reporting
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop PMD reporting
- Identifying and tracking of key delivery milestones for the Portfolio, producing regular reports to show areas of concern and making recommendations to Portfolio Board for resolution
- Identify, analyse, report and advise on resource issues and key themes to enable prioritisation, decision making and forward planning
- Provide support to the Leadership Team by producing document packs and briefing materials and action and decision logs
- Producing and maintaining the Portfolio Strategic Alignment and
- Prioritisation map for Leadership, to enable visibility of the Portfolio, escalating any issues with delivery where appropriate
- Support effective prioritisation of all Programmes and Projects on the Portfolio through the prioritisation matrix to ensure alignment to the strategy and goals of the NHSBSA, as well as alignment to the existing Portfolio of change, providing challenge as appropriate
- Support the Risk and Issues Specialist with effective management of risks and issues across the Portfolio, ensuring consistent quality and developing reporting to identify key risk and issue themes for Portfolio Board
- Support the Risk and Issues Specialist with the identification and development of dependency mapping across the Portfolio, collating together key themes and making recommendations to Leadership Team
- Provide constructive challenge and recommendations to Programme and Project Managers and other key stakeholders to ensure accurate data is provided for portfolio reporting
- Support the development of internal Portfolio analysis, processes and procedures, aligned to industry best practice and government standards working towards a Centre of Excellence
- Providing consultancy style support, training and guidance on all aspects of Portfolio Delivery and Assurance Team processes and tools, to Portfolio communities and the wider NHSBSA as appropriate
- Ensure update of Portfolio control documentation is managed as Hub champion (risk, issue, controls etc.)
- Lead on Change control process for the Portfolio Change Plan
- Work with key stakeholders on business planning and updates to Portfolio Change Plan to assure strategic alignment
- Developing dashboards and reports in the Programme and Project Management (PPM) tool
- Provide training and guidance on resource management and capacity planning and support and train users on PPM tool including;
- System configuration and updates
- Maintenance of template catalogue and creation and maintenance of associated communications
- Support Portfolio Office and Assurance Team colleagues in providing advice to the Project Review Boards to assure delivery confidence of the Portfolio, interpreting and escalating information where appropriate
- Support resource managers and Portfolio Programme Managers with the planning, costing and utilisation of portfolio resources; coordination of resource plans and reporting
- Support Portfolio Office and Assurance Team colleagues with the Portfolio Lessons Learned process and reporting
- Working closely with the Portfolio Delivery Team leadership to support the day-to-day activities of running the team and portfolio of change
- Undertake additional duties and responsibilities in line with the purpose of your role and as agreed by your line manager

Experience
Essential criteria- Demonstrable record in managing the delivery of change initiatives/small projects/work streams
- Experience managing and monitoring progress of work
- Experience working in an environment where adherence to standards needs to be met
- Experience in using organisational PMO processes and documentation
- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience of being a PM or deputising for PM on a project
- Experience of leading a process improvement initiative (e.g. Six Sigma/Lean/DMAIC)
- Experience of working within Agile/Waterfall Project Management methodologies
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Degree standard or significant relevant experience of working within a formal project delivery environment
- Prince II Foundation, or willing to work towards
- Evidence of continuing professional self-development
- Further education/Training Course certification(s) in relevant discipline
- Prince II Practitioner/P3O or Agile (or working towards)
