Main duties of the job

Quality Assurance Leadership

Develop and implement quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with policies and standards. Use data analysis to drive improvements and prepare for external reviews, including CQC inspections.

Risk Assessment and Management

Coordinate systems to identify and mitigate safety risks, improving patient care. Maintain tools like the Corporate Risk Register and Board Assurance Framework, and provide risk management training to staff.

Compliance Monitoring

Establish systems for regulatory inspection readiness aligned with CQC standards. Oversee action plans to address recommendations and ensure continuous improvement.

Policy Development

Work with stakeholders to create and review policies for risk management and quality assurance, ensuring alignment with regulations and best practices.

Education and Training

Deliver training to enhance staff knowledge of quality assurance, compliance, and risk management.

Continuous Improvement

Implement external review recommendations to improve practices. Foster a culture of openness, shared learning, and innovation.

Communication and Reporting

Produce detailed reports on risk and compliance. Maintain documentation and audit trails to support inspections and governance.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • Degree related to healthcare management or relevant demonstrable experience
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, standards, and accreditation bodies.
Desirable criteria
  • Management and clinical qualifications.
  • Evidence of further continued professional development.

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience in quality assurance, risk management, and compliance within the healthcare sector.
  • Evidence of ability to use knowledge and experience to analyse complex patient safety issues
  • Senior leadership /management experience in NHS acute setting/ and/or integrated organisation
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of relevant legislation and practice standards.

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to inform quality improvement strategies
  • Numerical experience and ability to use spreadsheets and produce high-quality management reports
  • Excellent computer literacy skills with knowledge of developing and leading presentations, using and managing databases and effective use of word processing software, and incident reporting systems such as Datix
