Scope / Purpose of Role:
The Quality Controller is responsible for carrying out checks to ensure that all products are produced to the relevant specifications and quality standards and that this is done by following the correct company procedures to ensure that the site food safety, legality and quality policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
Key Result Areas:
- Ensure that all start up checks have been carried out by production team BEFORE production line is permitted to commence, and that any issues raised have been reported to relevant department
- Visually inspect that production area and machinery are hygienically clean before production commences
- Calibration of checkweighers before production commences (where applicable)
- Quality inspection of products against product specification and quality standards
- Ensure that correct visual standards are displayed at all times
- Audits of quality and food safety checks and paperwork being completed by production, including but not limited to label checks, metal detector checks, weight checks, machine start up checks, traceability and temperature
- Sample collection from every production run
- Checking product safety, legality and quality at the start and end of the production run and regularly throughout the production run
- Sign off of relevant paperwork within 30 minutes of the end of the run
- Calibration checks (where applicable)
- Identification of non-conforming product and processes and ensuring that Quality Technician and/or Quality Manager are informed as soon as possible
- Supporting production operatives and team leaders to ensure quality standards are met
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Standards
- Ensuring that all issues found during the shift are reported in the Daily shift report to relevant departments when applicable
- Collect and file all relevant paperwork accurately at the end of the shift.
- Check start and end of run metal detector checks and paperwork have been completed
- There may also be specific tasks allocated to you by Technical Management team depending on the needs of the business.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Picking up issues at the start of a production run
- Checking that every product complies with the specification, quality standards and control processes
- Checking that metal detection checks are being carried out by trained operatives and that checks are being carried out to fully comply with the metal detection procedure
- Carrying out checks on products and paperwork in a timely fashion
- Highlighting all non conforming paperwork and processes
- Clearly communicating any issues to relevant staff so that corrective action can be taken
- Minimised levels of rejected products for quality, weight, or labelling issues are minimised
Qualifications:
- Full training will be given

Experience:
Awareness of production processes is preferred.
