Are you a passionate and committed to supporting good health outcomes for people with Learning Disabilities?
As a result of the transfer of Learning Disability Services at the Whalley Site from Merseycare to Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust we have a number of exciting opportunities for qualified and non-qualified staff to join our experienced and hard-working team supporting care delivery to adults with learning disability and complex health and/or behavioural needs across four units.
Post holders will work as part of a full multi-disciplinary service that includes Healthcare Assistants, Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, Psychologists and Medical colleagues.
Post holders will ideally have knowledge, skills and experience in supporting people with a learning disability who have complex health needs or behaviours that challenge services. Compassion, good communication skills, flexibility and an innovative attitude are essential.
Post holders will be able to access further role specific training, ongoing support and supervision and opportunities to develop their careers as LSCFT develops a new learning disability inpatient service in 2025.
Roles are based on-site at Whalley and there are both full and part time positions available.
Main duties of the job- You will be a Nurse working within a multidisciplinary team and carry out a diverse range of duties.
- As a Band 5 Nurse within the team, you will be regularly supported and supervised by a nominated Band 6 clinical Leader/Deputy Ward Manager, and you will be encouraged to take personal responsibility for clinical supervision and your continued professional development plan.
- You will undertake a period of preceptorship overseen by a named Band 6 within your team and engage on the trusts Preceptorship programme where appropriate.
- You will actively promote the values of the trust within the clinical team in accordance with the Trust values and Code of Conduct. You are required to maintain links with your professional body and provide evidence for the revalidation process.
- You will provide nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensure the effective assessment, formulation, planning and monitoring of care given to service users.
- You will exercise professional accountability and responsibility using skills, knowledge and expertise in changing environments, across clinical boundaries and in unfamiliar situations as outlined within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

Essential criteria- Relevant post registration NMC Qualification
- RNLD-Part 5 or 14 of NMC register NST 307 / ENB 998 Degree level community Nursing or willingness to undertake Experience in working with people who have a Learning Disability.
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Knowledge of national and local policy/good practice pertaining to health and social care. Good communication skills for use in a variety of settings with clients, carers and professionals of varying levels of understanding. Demonstrate good standard of verbal and written communication skills. Ability to reflect own work practice Knowledge of NMC code and standards of professional practice.
