School Nurse
Term time + 10 days
The School Nurse is part of a wider pastoral and First Aid team whose aim is to promote the physical health and emotional wellbeing of the students. The Nurse’s office is open from 8am-5pm during the school day and is a welcoming space offering medical support for students and staff.The post is a term-time plus 10 days only position, school holidays average around 16 weeks a year. There will be no weekend work required.
This support, in conjunction with the wider pastoral team, is designed to meet a wide range of day-to-day needs, some physical and some administrative. From meeting the physical needs of some pupils and the administration of first aid, to guiding pupils who may be in need of psychological support, to following up prolonged absences and organising the annual administration of various year-group vaccinations, the role is a varied but vital one in the school community.
You will be line-managed by the Deputy Head (Pastoral) and be part of the wider pastoral team of the school, this includes Heads of Section, Heads of Years and the Counselling team. We also have a school doctor we are affiliated with, with whom can be called upon for advice.Professional development is encouraged and there will be learning opportunities for you to benefit from, such as mental health courses.
