OTE for Long Day Sleep (24-hour shift): £345

Shift Patterns/Hours (Immediate Start Available):
  • 8am - 8pm (Long Day)
  • 8pm - 8am (Waking Night)
  • 8am - 11pm + Sleep-In

We are currently seeking experienced Support Workers to work with vulnerable young people within the community across Sunderland and surrounding areas.

These are block booking roles, with the opportunity for long-term shifts including 3-5 consecutive days.

You will be responsible for providing care and support to children and young people (aged 8-18) in a 2:1 setting, ensuring their safety, well-being, and positive development.

You will assist with daily activities, safeguarding, and managing personal routines to foster independence.
  • Provide emotional and physical support to young service users with various mental health needs and disabilities.
  • Assist in the completion of care plans, risk assessments, and incident reports.
  • Support young people in everyday activities, including household tasks, personal care, and maintaining routines.
  • Engage with young people through structured programmes, encouraging independence and positive experiences.
  • Record detailed observations of the young person's interactions, behaviours, and routines (including conversations, food diaries, and daily activities).
  • Safeguard young people by identifying and reporting potential concerns in line with established protocols.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with service users, their families, external agencies, and the local authority.
  • Problem-solving ability: Adapt quickly to changing situations and think on your feet.
  • Emotional resilience: Maintain professionalism and composure in challenging situations.
  • Excellent communication skills: Able to document observations and communicate clearly with young people, colleagues, and external agencies.
  • Experience with vulnerable children: Previous experience working with children with mental health issues, disabilities, or challenging behaviours is highly advantageous.
  • Qualifications: A Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or a relevant field is preferred.
  • DBS: Enhanced DBS check (we can assist in acquiring this if required).
  • Driving: Preferred, as locations may vary.
  • Competitive hourly pay (£15-£18 per hour), with mileage reimbursement at 45p per mile.
  • TMVA Training Course - valued at £500, to equip you with specialist de-escalation skills.
  • Ongoing support and professional development, including access to online training resources.
  • Flexible shift patterns with block bookings available for consistent working.
