Teacher of Learning Support and (preferably) Exams Assessor - King Henry VIII Senior School

1 Year Fixed Term Contract

Required from September 2026

Do you have a passion for life and learning? If so, our inspirational teaching team at King Henry VIII School is looking for a colleague to join the Learning Support Department. Your dynamic and creative approach will help encourage and champion today’s pupils across Years 7 to Upper VI in one of the Midlands’ leading co-educational independent schools.

King Henry VIII School (as part of the Coventry School Foundation) provides a forward‑thinking and contemporary education for girls and boys across the whole West Midlands region. Located within a stone’s throw of Coventry railway station, King Henry’s has a diverse school community and is committed to inclusive recruitment and inclusion in the workplace.

Our school aims, both in and out of the classroom, are clear
  • To celebrate our diverse and inclusive community
  • To inspire aspirational and authentic lifelong learners and leaders
  • To empower courage, creativity and compassion in each student
  • To nurture respectful, resilient and kind individuals

If this matches your educational vision, then this is the perfect time to join the Learning Support Department. The team consists of the Head of Learning Support/SENCo, a Learning Support Teacher and two Learning Support Assistants, working from a Learning Support Hub and collaborate closely to provide support to pupils on the Learning Support register and teachers as required.

Teamwork plays an important role within the department: staff enjoy enhancing the student experience by sharing good practice, resources, and ideas. We are looking for a well‑qualified graduate with QTS and, preferably, holds a Level 7 Certificate in Testing for Examinations Access Arrangements (TEAA) to join this exceptional department—someone who shares our vision, is passionate about SEND support, and who will bring their own individuality to this warm and supportive team.

In addition, any prospective candidate must show an active commitment to the values and expectations of our school community and to the welfare of the pupils within it. The enthusiasm to lead co‑curricular activities and to further enhance the student experience beyond the classroom is an important quality of all who work at King Henry’s.

We offer:

  • A community of considerate, creative and compassionate students and staff
  • A highly diverse and inclusive school community, committed to our bursary provision
  • An inspiring and enthusiastic team of colleagues across the teaching and support staff
  • A commitment to staff CPD and developing people professionally through mentoring and coaching, using both internal and external expertise
  • A diverse benefits package including:

o Competitive salary

o Attractive defined contribution pension scheme

o Free onsite parking

o Free Sport Centre membership

o Free lunches

o School fee discount

o Cycle to work scheme

What you can offer us:

  • Excellent SEND practice and knowledge
  • The ability to support pupils across KS3, KS4 and KS5
  • A talent for motivating and enthusing young learners to achieve their best and believe in themselves
  • Kindness and open-mindedness
  • Intellectual curiosity, enthusiasm and a personal ethos of lifelong learning
  • Resilience and optimism; someone who is willing to go the extra mile in the busy life of the school
  • The ability to build positive and constructive relationships with pupils, taking a proactive approach to the wellbeing and mental health of young people
  • Team-working abilities and a keenness to enable all colleagues to contribute ideas and be part of positive change
  • Commitment to the well-being and safeguarding of all students and staff
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion and anti-racism in the school community

How to apply:

We recognise that celebrating the full diversity of staff and students has a positive impact on all and invite applications from candidates from a broad range of backgrounds. To enable us to make any reasonable adjustments, please let us know when you submit your application whether you have any special requirements.

We welcome applications from the independent and maintained sectors. The school operates its own generous and competitive pay scales and will offer a salary commensurate with experience and the nature of this role.

To apply, please complete all sections of the online application form via our recruitment portal, including the supporting statement and details of two referees. For further information, please contact, recruitment@csfoundation.org.uk

Early applications are encouraged.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early and interview suitable candidates before the advertised closing date, should we receive a high volume of applications.

Closing date: Monday 18th May

Interviews: Week commencing Monday 18th May
