A secondary school in Darwen is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of English to join their established English department. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for literature and language to inspire and challenge students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality English lessons, ensuring that students of all abilities are engaged, motivated, and making strong progress. The department prides itself on fostering a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking, and the new post-holder will be expected to contribute to its ongoing success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English Language and Literature to a high standard across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons
  • Monitor, assess, and report on the progress of students
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
  • Support students with varying needs to ensure inclusive access to the curriculum
  • Play an active role in the wider life of the school and contribute to extracurricular activities where appropriate

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Demonstrate a strong subject knowledge of English Language and Literature
  • Be able to motivate and inspire students through creative and well-structured lessons
  • Have a commitment to raising achievement and supporting student wellbeing
  • Be an effective communicator with strong organisational skills
  • Show a commitment to professional development and reflective practice
