An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent full-time Higher – Level Care Support Worker to join our dynamic growing team in the Pre Operative Department

If you are an overseas national who would require a Certificate of Sponsorship from the Trust to ensure your Right to Work in the UK, the Band 3 Healthcare worker role is unable to offer this if you are new to the NHS (or have less than 2 years’ NHS service) and therefore your starting salary would be £24,071.

This is due to a change in the increased salary threshold advised by the UK Home Office on 12^th March 2025, stating that Employer sponsorship will only be available for starting salaries above £25,000. If you apply for the role and this restriction applies to you, your application would be automatically rejected prior to shortlisting stage.

Main duties of the job
  • Conduct pre-operative health checks, including height, weight, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, heart rate, ECGs and other vital signs
  • Working closely with the Registered nurse to deliver, monitor and evaluate care.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families and members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Using your skills and knowledge to escalate concerns or manage risk
  • Working together with others - offering support as able.
  • Developing a range of additional skills to support the delivery of safe and effective care in line with Pre Operative Band 3 CSW expectations.

The role of the pre assessment health care assistant is to assist the pre assessment nursing team to deliver safe effective care to the patients on their surgical pathway.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • A minimum of 12 months Previous care experience.
  • • Experience working within an acute care setting.
Desirable criteria
  • • Experience working on ward C21.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Able to communicate effectively and with confidence.
  • • Understands how to overcome barriers to effective
  • • Communication and applies these to practice.
Desirable criteria
  • • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • • Completion of Care Certificate or NVQ2 in care

Skills, knowledge and competencies

Essential criteria
  • • Confident is understanding the role of a Care Support worker.
  • • Understand the importance of individuality/ dignity/ autonomy/ independence/ choice and respect and can consistently applies these principles to practice.
  • • Ability to work well independently and as part of the team.
  • • Consistently demonstrates professional attitudes, values and behaviours within the workplace.
  • • Willingness to learn and develop self and others.
Desirable criteria
  • • Trained and competent in the delivery of some band 3 skills.
  • • Previous experience training new staff.
