Are you an enthusiastic, motivated Administrative Assistant wishing to join our dynamic and forward thinking dietetic service based at Leighton hospital, within Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership.

The Dietetic teams work across Central Cheshire providing a service for wards at Leighton Hospital, outpatient and general practice clinics, virtual and face to face group education and community visits.

The Operational Service Assistant will provide a comprehensive, high quality, confidential administrative support to the Dietetic service They will be expected to organise their own workload whilst being supported by the administrative team and dietetic manager.

It is essential that the post holder is able to exercise initiative suitable to the role, and is fully supportive of other colleagues within the team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to manage calls into the service, book appointment via the outpatient and community IT systems and support the administration of group education sessions and patient record management

You should possess excellent keyboard skills, a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages particularly Word, Excel and email. Familiarity with medical terminology and EMIS systems would be desirable however full training will be given.

Good communication and organisation skills are essential, alongside the ability to work under pressure, prioritise and use own initiative. Working flexibly as a team player to support deadlines across the administrative team is vital.

The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.

The results in the 2020 national NHS Staff Survey showed improvements in all elements of the safety culture theme, with 92% of respondents feeling their role made a difference to our patients.

To provide comprehensive administrative support to the Dietetic team including managing calls referrals and supporting clinical staff to respond to the health needs of the population of the CCICP and MCHFT

To support the Dietetic service to liaise with a range of internal and external services and teams regarding appointments and multidisciplinary meetings

To exercise own judgement based on acquired knowledge and experience as to when to deal with queries personally and when to involve other team Dietetic team members and with what degree of urgency

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE’s grade C or equivalent. Must include English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel and Power point.
  • ECDL or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous Administrative experience
  • Knowledge of confidentiality in accordance with Data Protection Act and national/local guidelines
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS administrative experience
  • Understanding of computer systems used by the service
