What skills and experience we're looking for

Essential –
  • Successful and recent experience of teaching Computer Science to high-attaining students
  • Successful experience of teaching A-level Computer Science
  • Ability to set and achieve high standards for themselves, colleagues and students.
  • Ability to manage student progress and achievement and complete all relevant documentation.
  • Have an awareness and understanding of current developments in their subject area
  • Ability to create effective rapport with, and inspire the confidence of, external partners such as teachers at other schools, employers, and university departments.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to enthuse and innovate.
  • Ability to create effective rapport and a constructive relationship with students and staff, both in and out of school.
  • Ability to relate to and inspire students to develop their talents.
  • Excellent IT skills, including the ability to learn new systems quickly and use them intelligently.
  • The depth of knowledge and the mental agility to allow flexibility in lessons
  • An excellent classroom teacher
  • The ability to deliver your primary subject to university entrance standards.
  • Able to display a high level of management skills
Desirable –
  • Experience of collaborating on curriculum development and course design (Head of Department role only)
  • Experience of developing, delivering and evaluating effective outreach activities (Head of Department role only)
  • Expertise in analysing student data (Head of Department role only)
  • Success in preparing students for university entrance, including supporting UCAS applications
  • Experience of using innovative pedagogies, including ICT, group work, formative assessment, research projects etc.
  • Involvement in delivering CPD (Head of Department role only)
  • Knowledge of research-based pedagogy
