Job overview

Rainbow Mother and Baby unit is a 6 bedded specialist commissioned service offering assessment, support and treatment to women suffering from acute mental health illness during their third trimester of pregnancy up to baby being 12mths old.

Admissions are accepted primarily from the east of England. The team work very closely with other key professions to ensure the best outcomes for both Mother and baby therefore strong communication skills are essential.

Perinatal work is an exciting area focusing not only on the individual but the extended family during what can be the most amazing and terrifying time in their life.

Main duties of the job

Running group and 1:1 therapeutic activities to support recovery and enjoyment for Mum individually and Mum and baby together

Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within inpatient acute mental health settings
  • Experience or running therapeutic activities
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working on an acute Mother and Baby unit
  • Experience of working with parents and children
  • Experience working within the NHS

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of Mental health and the impact
Desirable criteria
  • Good awareness of Perinatal Mental health
