West London Children's Healthcare is excited to announce a 12-month fixed-term opportunity for an Associate Paediatric Practice Education Nurse within the Paediatrics department at the West Middlesex Site. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the education and training of our Paediatric nursing teams, playing a key part in enhancing patient care and promoting professional development.The position is ideal for individuals who are dedicated to improving patient care by supporting the education of nurses and healthcare assistants (HCAs).
As an Associate Paediatric Practice Education Nurse, you will be a Registered Children's Nurse with a degree and have either a Mentorship Certificate or have undertaken Student Assessor/Preceptorship training. You will be able to work clinically with teams at the ward or department level, bringing proven clinical expertise to our paediatric departments at our West Middlesex Campus.

Main duties of the job- Your role will involve delivering and evaluating education in clinical practice, ensuring it meets the needs of the Paediatric nursing workforce. You will also work closely with the wider paediatric clinical education team to support the delivery of key training objectives.
In addition, you will deliver skills stations across paediatrics, enhancing the workforce’s clinical skills and ensuring that our nursing teams are equipped to provide the best possible care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Roles and responsibilities- To be an expert practitioner, demonstrating advanced communication and nursing skills, using expert knowledge and decision-making skills in children’s nursing.
- To support and develop junior staff, HCA’s and students working within the department.
- To deliver nursing care to a high standard and be an effective role model.
- To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources.
- To promote a progressive attitude to research and practice development in the continual improvement of patient care/services.
- To deputise for the Paediatric Practice Educator on occasion with activities directly related to the ward.
- To work alongside the Paediatric Practice Educator and Ward Managers to ensure the delivery of individualised programmes for induction and ongoing development of all staff in line with their Personal Development Plans (PDPs).
- To support the ward team to ensure that staff can make maximum use of the full range of Trust-wide learning opportunities.
- To uphold the Trust Values and to embed theses into the clinical practice of staff.
- To support the implementation of a West London Children’s Healthcare wide nursing education strategy that links to the workforce strategy and the divisional strategic plan.
- To maintain clinical credibility you will be expected to work two clinical shifts per month.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria- Registered Children’s Nurse on NMC register
- Student assessor or mentorship qualification
- Relevant post-registration accredited clinical course
- BSc/PGDip/MSc in children’s nursing
- Willingness to work towards a teaching qualification or associate advance higher education fellowship
- Simulation debriefing qualification
Experience
Essential criteria- Demonstrable post registration experience in one of the following areas: Paediatric high dependency care District general paediatric clinical environments Paediatric haematology/oncology care Paediatric surgical care Paediatric burns care
- Experience of working as a band 6 leading a shift
- Experience of supervising and assessing student nurses/Precepting newly registered nurses

- Ability to work full shift pattern including rotation, nights, twilight shifts, weekends & bank holidays
