Clinical Nurse Specialist in Breast Cancer – promoting access to clinical trials

This is a new post as part of a wider pilot project in collaboration with the NHS Race & Health Observatory, Macmillan Cancer Support and Roche with the aim of increasing representation of ethnic minority women in breast cancer clinical trials

  1. Supporting patients with their diagnosis of breast cancer
  2. Introducing the concept of clinical research in general
  3. Signposting patients to educational materials on clinical trials in general and addressing any queries
  4. Navigating patients to breast cancer trials potentially suitable for them
  5. Supporting patients commencing/continuing on breast cancer clinical trials, including aiding with any barriers (e.g. logistical, financial) as needed
  6. Working closely with the academic team completing the independent evaluation of the project
  7. To be a figurehead for the project and be willing to present and talk to the media.
